It has been brought to our notice that some of the countries have instructed their Port Custom Officers to be more vigilant for the ISPM- 15 Mark on the Wood Packaging Material (WPM). This stamp should be complete and legible and should be in approved format as reflected in the International Standard. Presently, most of the countries get them re-fumigated or incinerated on intercepting such non-compliance and report it to the Exporting country. Of late, Canada has instructed even upto the extent that such consignments should be re-exported back and non–Compliance would obiviously be reported to the NPPO of exporting Country. There is very much liklihood that other countries may follow the suit.

It is, therefore requested that we have to use good quality ink preferably indelible ink while stamping the Wood Packaging Material and the stamp should be complete, legible and weather proof, so as to avoid such mishappenings. Atleast one stamp should be marked on each side of WPM but there is no restriction on more number of stampings on every side.
